Long story short, he has been going down hill for the past few years and recently more so. He was going blind in one eye and seemed to be struggling to get up and get around. Yesterday my Mom called me to ask if I'd come over and go with her to his Vet appt. So I did and when I got to my Mom's, Rome was not excited to see me like he always is. He just laid there looking at me and crying like he was in pain. Ugh, that was so very hard to see a member of our family like that. When we got to the Vet, the doctor took one look at him and said, "He's so old and they could run some tests but that wouldn't really help him. It could be cancer, intestinal infection or kidney failure." We knew what we had to do, so he left the room so my Mom and I could talk about the decision. As much as we hated it, it was time for our little Romeo to go. =( We both stayed in the room while the doctor gave him a sedation and put him to sleep. Talk about shedding tears, there wasn't a dry eye. It was one of the hardest moments I've gone through, but I'm so glad I was with him to take his last breath.
We love you buddy & will miss you and your craziness very much!

It is so hard losing a pet because so often they bring us comfort that other's can't. I still miss my Audrey! Sorry for your loss. So sad! :(
